Artist's Statement
In my photography, I strive to capture:
—The most authentic practices of traditional
ranch work,
—The most precious features and unique
behaviors of domestic animals and wildlife, and
—The most beautifully textured and sunlit
aspects of nature.
My photographs are taken with great
appreciation and admiration of ranchers and
cowboys who graciously and relentlessly work
to maintain the resources supplied in nature
thereby creating an environment that benefits
the land and its inhabitants. All of my
photographs were taken on Texas ranches,
covering thousands of acres. Each photograph
represents more than just the visible features seen
in the image.
These photographs:
—Personify the stories and memories of the hard-
working men and women of the past and present,
—Help others to better understand how traditional
working ranches operate,
—Promote future preservation of ranch land and
ranching heritage, and
—Show appreciation to people who dedicate
their lives to preserving the ranches of Texas.
